Well I had no idea that a third international airport was being built on the island, where have I been, right? Oh well it appears that the Ian Fleming International Airport has been constructed at Boscobel St. Mary (it's actually an expansion and rebranding of the Boscobel Aerodome). For those who don't know he is the creator of James Bond, living near Oracabessa St.Mary he was inspired whilst going through a personal crisis and wrote his first book Golden Eye in 1952. And yes that was before Pierce Brosnan was born.
His name being attached to this airport honors him for the exposure he has given the island and rightly so, but also to catch the ear of high end tourists who may be curious to experience what our industry has to offer. This is an important step in improving Brand Jamaica and it doesn't hurt to thank a few people such as Ian Fleming along the way. So here's a toast to Jamaica opens third international airport shaken not stirred. Enjoy!!!
