Hip Hopizm

On March 26th (I know this article is overdue) we attended an event at NOVA Southeastern University being hosted by the Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. Gamma Delta Chapter called



The event gave an overview of the definition of Hip Hop, a little synopsis on the history of Hip-Hop; Cool fact: Hip-Hop originated in the Bronx, New York (pause here for loud applause and celebration) by a Jamaican D.J. Clive Campbell also known as "Kool Herc" who was born in 1955 at Kingston, Jamaica. The event also spoke of graffitti or tagging that started in Philly during the 1960's and found its way into NYC by the 1970's. But the coolest thing about this night was the choreographer they brought (I believe his name was Andre.......)who demonstrated,taught, and allowed us to practice some basic yet cool Hip Hop moves to some banging joints.
The event on a whole was enjoyable and we'd like to thank the organization along with Roshini Persaud who helped us along the way. The event was in support of Reiner De Armas, also known as B-Boy Cuba whom we wish a safe and speedy recovery.

The Caribbean Connection

So we made some Caribbean Tees representing four islands specifically, and they are Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Haiti. Now, it's not that we don't love the other islands its just the market allowed for these prints to be done specifically. Here is a look at these designs:

The guyana designs sold out so we don't have an image for those, so we're considering a cost effective method of doing one of a kind Polos with an island theme, we'll update you more on that later. Just felt like showing these since they were some of the first designs that we did. Next article Hip Hop-izm event.

Working the Yardese Look (Part 2)

Working the Yardese part 2 is the look for the men, the first two pieces are contrast stitched tees navy blue shield design and the green lion tree design(also available in brown).

For the shield we're rocking a casual look, baggy jeans with matching stitched design embedded on the right leg, and white/blue kicks to match.

For the lion design we have it fitted with khaki shorts and some matching Sperry's to let em know your fresh like no other.

These next two designs are working with a honey version of the three tree design(TTD also available in burnt orange) and a sandstone version of the vintage lion tee.

For the TTD we have some casual jeans with yellow/green wash along with the white Air Force Ones offers a clean look for the afternoon flex.

For the vintage we have the plaid red and sandstone color mix for the shoes along with a matching crucifix, jeans with brown wash and of course the vintage lion completes the look to give you that swag.

World Culture Fashion Show

The World Culture Fashion Show was held at Johnson and Wales University in celebration of their Caribbean Week. The show was staged at the beautiful Palms Court venue and was organized by Dominique Lindo who we'd like to thank for the invitation. Shout out to Chelle and here are a couple shots of the event:

Working the Yardese Look (Part 1)

Just wanted to give you guys a feel of the current designs that we have, we say ladies first so here goes:

The "Y" Design by Yardese is a versatile piece which gives a clean edgy look for any casual occasion, whether a night on the town with the girls, or a day at the fair with family, or just a dance party to stretch those legs a little, the "Y" design helps to provide that comfortable feel. It's fun to mix & match colors with this piece.

The butterfly design can be styled to provide a look that you may desire, the artwork is hand drawn and the shading is done by the stippling method. These pieces are quite earthy and come in yellow or white.

The "Your love is my Love" design is spreading a message of hope and togetherness which resonates through this brand as we encourage unity through the branding of our product.

The Blackout Fashion Extravaganza

The Blackout Fashion Extravaganza the Official Fashion Affair where music and magic meets the runway was a re-opening of sorts for the Yardese brand, and what an amazing experience it was, the professionalism from the coordinators was one of the reasons that we decided to be a part of the show. The Blackout hosted at FIU south campus inside the G.C. Ballrooms had a myriad and variety of designers that were on the runway, each portraying a different style that it was impossible for the audience not to enjoy the evening. Yardese came out as the third designer in the first segment of the show with the song Jamaican Ting from Beenie Man’s undisputed Album, the room was infused with energy as the models rocked the runway, enjoying the rhythms and getting the crowd involved as they witnessed Yardese being born again.The atmosphere was reminiscent of a truly well organized event with photographers, television personnel, musical artistes fashion and an engaging audience. We want to thank all those who were involved in this process, our resident photographer Anthony Jackson who did an excellent job, Mfon Essiett who always seems to grace us with her presence at the right time, the coordinators Athena, Brittany, Cassandre, and last but not least all the models. The Blackout was a benefit event hosted by GODDESS INC. and co-sponsored by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People [NAACP], the proceeds were forwarded to the Oprah foundation. The event was also apart of the University's Pan African celebrations for the month of February.
